Description
Convex Insurance provides Property Insurance on a direct and facultative basis in North America. This covers both physical damage and any ensuing Business Interruption. Our clients vary in size, but many feature on the Fortune 500 and we insure a wide range of business occupations. We endeavor to build strong, long term business relationships with our chosen clients based on significant capacity deployment, stability, transparency and flexibility as well our market leading claims service.
Convex takes a data and technology-led approach to underwriting, enabling you to spend most of your time interacting with brokers, clients and other stakeholders. We have built efficient workflows and a culture that allow for rapid decision taking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for underwriting US Open Market (D&F) Property business in accordance with delegated authority levels.
  • Ability to set terms and lead business in close conjunction with our market leading claims and legal functions.
  • Assist with the development of Convex’s Property portfolio and its future strategy in conjunction with the wider Property team and Head of business line.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders including clients and brokers.
  • Work within both your established network and build new networks to produce new business and create and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and report market intelligence on sector developments and new opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively across functions to ensure achievement of shared goals.
  • Ensure clarity for the team around priorities and goals and to embed a continuously improving mindset in performance approach and ensure adherence within the team to the legal and regulatory framework.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experienced in a London market underwriting role, ideally with underwriting authority in US Property or associated classes.
  • Equivalent experience as a London Market broker / Assistant Underwriter or Pricing Actuary within US Direct & Facultative would be considered.
  • Professional qualifications are an advantage, such as ACII, or FIA, depending on your background.
  • Robust numerical and analytical skills, with a data led mindset.
  • Good work ethic and collaborative approach to delivering on business objectives.
  • Team player, self-starter and curious; you endeavour being part of a cohesive, motivated and talented team and enjoy being involved in a wide variety of initiatives.
  • Proven ability to nurture relationships with brokers across the class of business. You’ll be able to meet existing and potential clients both in London and abroad via business travel.
  • Motivated and able to represent Convex at international events and conferences with attributes that align with Convex’s key principles.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions with sound rationale.
  • Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach with a positive attitude to solving problems.
  • Comfortable with the latest technology, and curious to learn others, with the ability to explain complex rationale to clients and brokers in a clear and simple way.
