Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the benign urology nursing team.

The post-holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the assessment, primary and/or secondary diagnosis, management, and evaluation of treatment/ and/or care for a caseload of patients.

The postholder will have responsibility for providing specialist advice and management for individuals with bladder dysfunction. This will be by direct patient care, providing advice and education to patients as well as advice for carers and healthcare personnel.

Candidates that do not have benign urology CNS and running nurse-led clinic experience are welcome to apply and will be supported to successfully complete a 12-month accelerated training and education competency framework to become a Band 6. Candidates without this experience will start a band 5 and once the training has been successfully completed will move to Band 6.

As per Annexe 21 agenda for change terms and conditions, during the 12 months of training, your starting salary represents 75% of the maximum of band 6. You will remain on 75% pay of the maximum of band 6 until successful completion of your competencies when you will be moved to 100% of the minimum band 6 pay

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work as an independent practitioner and with members of the multidisciplinary team, provide advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on all benign urological conditions, across both secondary and primary care.

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the on-going development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service development to ensure patients have a seamless pathway. Promoting a safe, competent and evidence-based practice, in line with national objectives and within the clinical governance framework.
