As an organisation and Emergency Department we are pleased to advertise a number of Emergency Nurse Practitioner / Urgent Care Practitioner posts as part of our new build and development of the urgent care service col‑located within the Emergency Department. We are fortunate to have had a £30 million investment and development of a brand new purpose built Emergency Department, which comprises a 6‑bed resus area, Rapid Assessment Triage and ambulance handover area, 35 clinical rooms including a paediatric area, 2 triage rooms and a dedicated area with 6 clinical rooms for the Urgent Care Service. The new build provides an excellent environment to see and treat patients attending with an emergency or urgent complaints ensuring they are seen in the right place, by the right person whilst maintaining national emergency care standards.

Main duties of the job

Working in the Urgent Care Service consists of a 24‑hour service; you will be seeing, assessing and discharging patients who present with minor illnesses and minor injuries.

The department offers an extensive career development pathway and significant investment have been made to support the continued training and education of the UCS team linked to each individual role, including RCN Level 1 & 2 competencies, and for autonomous practitioners IRMER training, Minor Illness, Minor Injury training and access to educational courses as well as a comprehensive development and competency pathways.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
  • Current registration with professional body e.g. NMC
  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent
  • BSc autonomous practice

£47,810 to £54,710 a year; Band 6 for training post until qualified.
