Job summary

Tameside Council is seeking a driver team leader for the refuse collection service based at Tame Street Depot, Stalybridge. You will drive waste collection vehicles, lead the round, and ensure safe, efficient operations across the borough.

Applicants must hold a clean LGV Class II licence, a digital tachograph card, and a CPC. This permanent role requires a 36-hour week plus 6.25 hours of overtime, with duties including urban driving and manual handling.

Qualifications

• Must hold a clean LGV Class II licence to drive a Refuse Collection vehicle.
• Must possess a digital tachograph card and a Driver Qualification Card (CPC).
• Enthusiastic, highly motivated and well organised team player to join the refuse collection service as a driver team leader.

Responsibilities

• Drive all vehicles used for waste collection operations.
• Lead and supervise the allocated round and team.
• Carry out statutory vehicle safety checks and daily vehicle checks.
• Supervise a close-knit team collecting and removing recyclable material and waste.
• Work in all weather conditions and assist with lifting and moving waste receptacles.
