Role Summary
The main objective of this role is to support the store management team in creating a store environment that fosters creativity, employee development, and the VIBE philosophy. The role also involves upholding Urban Outfitters' 'Peers Training Peers' philosophy.
What You'll Be Doing
People:
- Ability to recruit, motivate, develop, and lead a team.
- Manage performance development within the department (Performance Appraisals, Individual Development Plans, Coaching, Counseling, Disciplinary actions).
- Recognize and develop talented individuals for advancement within the organization.
- Uphold company standards and act as a positive role model.
Leadership & Communication:
- Inspire, motivate, and encourage teamwork by modeling the way.
- Conduct productive daily meetings to meet goals.
- Delegate projects effectively, allowing team members creativity and decision-making.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Managing the Environment:
- Oversee customer service levels by setting daily goals and expectations.
- Maintain a strong floor presence through training and coaching on customer service, standards, product placement, and time management.
- Achieve mystery shop results that meet company standards.
Operations:
- Perform store operational procedures accurately and timely, following company policies.
- Manage stock loss by overseeing loss prevention practices.
- Uphold health and safety regulations to protect employees and customers.
Merchandising & Display:
- Manage department aspects in collaboration with relevant managers, including training, shipment placement, markdowns, transfers, and standards.
- Interpret current fashion trends to generate creative solutions.
- Ensure well-organized and scheduled floor sets.
Commercial Awareness:
- Maximize departmental sales through analytical and creative merchandise management.
- Utilize reports to respond to trends and drive business.
- Stay updated on current trends and customer profiles.
- Manage stock levels based on reports and market trends.
- Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to exceed store targets.
What You'll Need
- Experience in management within a fast-paced, high-volume fashion retail environment.
- Strong operational skills.
- Understanding of Urban Outfitters' culture and its appeal to the local market.
- Ability to drive sales through excellent service, visual presentation, and business understanding.
