Role Summary

An invaluable role within the Womenswear Design team, providing creative support to multiple product departments.

Viewed upon as an 'incubator' for emerging ideas, inspiring and influencing those around them, with an ability to channel these ideas into commercially viable product.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assisting in the design development of an innovative and commercial range of fashion products to meet business requirements across the UK and Europe for stores and online, covering all apparel areas of womenswear.
  • Assisting in the design development of products that exceed the Urban Outfitters customers' expectations of the brand, whilst remaining commercial in approach.
  • Researching and identifying latest key trends and items to inspire and develop new ranges, and to compliment and drive forward existing product lines.
  • Understanding the brands image, broad knowledge of trends, contributing to overriding seasonal concepts, colour and print boards.
  • Product development from concept to sketch with an ability to create accompanying technical packs including measurements, garment specifications and clear fabric and trim references.
  • Demonstrating a passion for the product and knowledge of how trends evolve using natural creative flair.
  • Trend research and analysis.
  • Inspire up, down & across peers. Inspire through imagery & creative vision.
  • Assisting team on key creative presentation decks.
  • Creation of monthly trend mailers which inspire wider functions within the business.
  • An understanding of print creation & a willingness to expand these skills further is essential.
  • Keeping a head of trade/understanding of key drivers and best sellers.
  • Ability to work under pressure within a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines. Good time management is an essential tool.
  • Ability to confidently present research, sketches and samples.
What You'll Need

  • The understanding of Urban as a trend maker and leader.
  • Portfolio should be very directional and demonstrate an ability to think outside the box.
  • Creativity and style.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to present your ideas well, requiring a confident, can-do attitude to your work.
  • Excellent hand/CAD sketching ability.
  • Capable researcher with the ability to find new and exciting imagery that fits the brand.
  • Good knowledge of Adobe, primarily InDesign, photoshop and illustrator.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to identify new opportunities with exceptional communication and presentation skills at all levels.
  • Proficient CAD - Illustrator/Photoshop skills.
  • Ideally had some exposure in working with a global supply base.
  • A confident communicator, you will be very well organised.
  • An enthusiastic person who has excellent self-initiative but is also a strong team player.
