Job summary

Leeds City Council’s Urban Forest team seeks an experienced Community Arboricultural Officer to inspect trees, specify works and support stakeholders across Leeds. You will manage tree risk, follow council guidelines, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors.

The role operates on a hybrid basis with a full driving licence required. Excellent communication and data-handling skills are essential, with opportunities for career development in a vital green service.

Qualifications

• Level 4/5 qualification in arboriculture or willingness to work towards it is essential.
• Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
• NPTC units CS30/31/32/33/34 and CS35/36/38 are desirable.
• Experience in arboriculture/tree management in urban settings is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support managers in improving Arboricultural services and manage information systems.
• Investigate and answer member enquiries and complaints about tree issues within set timescales.
• Produce performance information and cost estimates for works.
• Deliver training and promote understanding of arboriculture and sustainable tree care.
• Undertake tree surveys, record data, monitor and specify works.
