Description

We are seeking an Upstream oil and gas analyst to enhance our coverage of the global upstream oil and gas industry based out of London. The role will be multi-faceted and will focus on maintaining and improving our global crude, condensate and gas production models for the short and medium term.

You will join a team of oil and gas experts to closely monitor and assess key events and commercial developments in oil and gas, gathering and analysing industry data. You will lean on a strong analytical foundation to build views of productivity and costs, mostly for conventional assets globally.

A successful candidate will play an active role in the full cycle of research, conducting corporate analysis across the energy value chain and enhancing our forecasts. You will also form opinions on corporate strategies, midstream infrastructure, M&A deals, energy transition, petroleum economics, government energy policy and regional geopolitics.

You will be highly resourceful and call on a wide range of sources to feed into your analysis. You are comfortable and efficient at manipulating data, building forecast models, carrying out detailed analysis, writing compelling reports, and presenting our views to clients.

Our clients value our views and insights, so you will help shape forward-looking views rather than conduct solely historical analysis. You will be expected to consistently produce high-quality work to send to our demanding client base which ranges from traders to strategy departments to the c-suite. We pride ourselves on our product. We are meticulous about maintaining a high standard across our services and will ensure adequate training and support is provided to help achieve this.

The role demands adaptability and a commitment to excellence as part of a collaborative team. We encourage all our team members to cultivate their professional standing within the industry, backed by some of the industry's most esteemed commentators. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess the organisational skills necessary for planning and prioritising tasks to achieve outstanding results.

In exchange, we offer excellent remuneration, a high-performance culture, with challenging and exciting work.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain production forecasts for crude oil, condensate, and gas production, ensuring alignment with market trends and company objectives.
· Assess the impact of outages, sanctions, or other events on production, providing timely insights.
· Maintain and update projects databases, ensuring all data related to exploration, development, and production projects is current and accurate.
· Model field-level production profiles to predict future production rates.
· Analyse company financial statements to extract key valuation metrics and assess where future opportunities lie in the energy market.
· Manage regular updates of upstream data files as part of client data service.
· Visualise data to serve the wider research team and work with the data team to enhance client data offerings.
· Contribute to and enrich existing research publications.
· Continuously seek to increase your market knowledge and widen your network of contacts.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

· At least 3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on forecasting, data management, or production analysis.
· Strong attention to detail in both handling data and written English.
· Excellent technical skills using excel.
· Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively with others (including colleagues in different time zones) to deliver timely analysis.
· Proactive and commercially minded.

Desirable skills:
· Degree in Geoscience, Engineering, Economics or a related field.
· Experience in infrastructure mapping using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite imagery analysis would be beneficial.
· Experience in financial modelling or economic analysis within the upstream oil and gas sector
