Job summary

East Cheshire NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist to support the Endoscopy Service at Macclesfield District General Hospital. The post-holder will perform diagnostic Upper GI endoscopy and manage a personal caseload, working autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team.

The role is based at Macclesfield District General Hospital with 27 hours per week. Applications from Graduate visa holders are welcomed with visa sponsorship restrictions noted.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse on part 1, 3, 5 or 8 of the NMC Register.
  • JAG accreditation for Endoscopist role on JETS site.
  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development.
  • Evidence of training/update on lower GI therapeutic endoscopic intervention.
  • Cannulation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialist and advanced clinical knowledge within Endoscopy/Gastroenterology.
  • Undertake Upper GI endoscopy procedures as a qualified Nurse Endoscopist.
  • Work autonomously, managing whole episodes of patient care without medical supervision.

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a dynamic Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist to support our Endoscopy Service at East Cheshire NHS Trust. Innovation in service delivery and flexibility to work within the needs of the service are key requirements of this role.

The post holder will be able to undertake Upper GI endoscopy as a qualified Nurse Endoscopist. The post holder will work autonomously, managing whole episodes of patient care independent of medical supervision. They will be a key member of the Multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will have their own caseload of patients for whom they will perform upper gastro-intestinal diagnostic endoscopy.

The appointee will play a key role in providing a high quality, efficient, patient focused in the endoscopy service.

The post will be based at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

Hours per week: 27

Main duties of the job

  • Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist To work as part of the multidisciplinary team in providing a high-quality service meeting the physical and emotional requirements for both inpatients and outpatients undergoing procedures within the Endoscopy and Treatment Unit.

Essential
  • A Registered Nurse on part 1, 3, 5 or 8 of the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Register.

  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development
  • Evidence of training/update on lower GI (Gastrointestinal) therapeutic endoscopic intervention

  • First level degree or equivalent qualification in relevant subject
  • Hold or be working towards a master's degree
  • BoSS (Barrett's Oesophagus Surveillance Study) registered endoscopist or willingness to train to undertake the role.
