Unqualified Teaching Assistant
Location: Wallasey, Wirral (CH44)
Contract: Full-time (Term-time only, 39 weeks per year)
Start Date: September 2025 (or as soon as possible)
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour

Role Overview

The school arewishing to appoint an Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. You will work under the guidance of qualified teachers to help raise standards of pupil attainment and support pupils’ social, emotional, and educational development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with children and considering a future career in education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to the class teacher, including:
    • Assisting with the planning and delivery of learning activities
    • Supporting individual pupils or small groups (particularly those with additional needs)
    • Helping to prepare resources, displays, and teaching materials
  • Promote positive behaviour, encouraging pupils to work and play harmoniously
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunchtimes as required
  • Support with reading, writing, numeracy, and other basic skills interventions
  • Assist with routine administrative tasks (e.g., photocopying, filing, maintaining records)
  • Help pupils develop social and behavioural skills, and model positive attitudes
  • Provide general welfare, pastoral care, and first-aid support (training provided)

Person Specification

Essential

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths grade 4/C or equivalent)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to feedback (full training provided)

Desirable

  • Experience (paid or voluntary) working with children, e.g., nursery, holiday club, youth work
  • Awareness of safeguarding and child-protection procedures
