Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd in Wigan is recruiting for an Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join our National Teaching Assistant Programme. The role offers full-time temporary employment, with £463 - £500 per week depending on experience and/or qualifications, starting September 2026.

You will work with schools across Wigan, receiving high-quality training, ongoing consultant support, and paid placements to develop classroom skills and SEND assistance.

Qualifications

In partnership with schools in our local communities, we are proud to launch our National Teaching Assistant Programme, designed to support those who want to start a Teaching Assistant career in Wigan

Unqualified Teaching Assistant (full time, temporary)
Wigan
£463 - £500 per week (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)
Start date: September 2026

Vision for Education work with Special Needs schools as well as alternative provisions all across Wigan. We're passionate about making a positive impact in education.

The Programme
  • Working alongside our client schools, we will provide the successful Unqualified Teaching Assistant with high quality training and paid on the job experience.
  • Following a successful interview and pending suitability, safeguarding and identity checks, we will work to secure you a paid placement in a school to further develop your skills, you will also receive ongoing support from a dedicated consultant.
The Role
  • The role of an Unqualified Teaching Assistant is vital in the day-to-day running of schools. The best Teaching Assistants have excellent communication skills and are able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff, quickly and effectively.
  • Depending on the role and the school, you will be working with the class teacher to manage behaviour, support with interventions, and provide additional support to children with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities).
Requirements

To be considered for the National Teaching Assistant Programme, you will:

  • Be able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Be passionate about improving the outcomes for children and young people.
  • Understand the crucial importance of keeping children and young people safe.
  • Be able to demonstrate at interview the reasons why you want to start a career in education, and explain your understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant and the important part they play in the school community.
  • Be committed to completing the required training and participating in ongoing CPD.
  • Be willing to pay for an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
  • Possess right to work in the UK and be able to provide 2 references (one recent from education or care).
