Milk Education are partnering with a fantastic 11-18 secondary school in Tynemouth, North Tyneside, seeking a confident Unqualified Teacher for a full-time role starting September 2026.

The position is suitable for graduates or those with experience working with young people who want hands-on classroom experience, delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 and supporting student learning.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, with recent experience working with young people.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills and a genuine passion for education.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead groups of students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of young people.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on update service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Maintain a positive, productive classroom environment.
  • Support students to complete set work and meet lesson objectives.
  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour.
  • Promote inclusion and equality of opportunity for all students.
  • Support the wider school community where required.

Unqualified Teacher

Location: Tynemouth, North Tyneside

Working hours: 8.30am-3.45pm Monday to Friday

Start date: September 2026

Milk Education are currently working in partnership with a fantastic 11-18 secondary school that is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher to join their staff team on a full-time basis.

The role of an Unqualified Teacher is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, youth workers, sports coaches, tutors, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a school setting.

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will cover lessons during the absence of main teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task with the work provided. You will be responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, maintaining high expectations of behaviour and supporting student learning.

You will work across a variety of subject areas and year groups, gaining valuable experience within a supportive and welcoming secondary school environment.

Unqualified Teacher Key Responsibilities:

Unqualified Teacher Person Specification:

  • Educated to degree-level
  • Recent experience working with young people within the last two years
  • A genuine passion for education and working with children
  • Solid literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong communication skills and confidence leading groups of students
  • Ability to build positive relationships with both students and staff
  • A professional, reliable and adaptable approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply)
