Whether you're a recent graduate, an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step, or someone with experience working with young people, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience in a secondary school setting.

As an Unqualified Teacher, you'll be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring students remain engaged with their learning. You'll work across a range of subjects, building positive relationships with both pupils and staff while helping to maintain a productive learning environment.

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Confidence leading groups and delivering learning activities
  • A positive, flexible and proactive attitude
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting student progress

You don't need a traditional teaching background to be successful as an Unqualified Teacher. Many of the skills required to manage a classroom, engage learners, and build positive relationships are highly transferable from other professions.

This role could be ideal for:

  • Recent Graduates looking to get their foot in the door and gain valuable classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or teacher training programme.
  • Public Sector Professionals with experience communicating with and supporting a wide range of people.
  • Military Personnel or Veterans who can bring leadership, resilience, adaptability, and strong behaviour management skills into the classroom.
  • Careers Advisers who are experienced in mentoring, motivating, and guiding young people towards achieving their goals.
  • Youth Mentors and Youth Workers who understand how to build positive relationships and engage young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Trainers and Assessors who are confident delivering information, leading groups, and adapting their communication style to different audiences.
  • Tutors who are looking to transition from one-to-one or small-group support into a classroom setting.

If you've ever considered a career in teaching but want to see whether it's the right fit before undertaking a PGCE or formal teacher training, this role offers the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school while developing valuable classroom management and teaching skills. It allows you to make a real difference to young people's education while exploring a rewarding and potentially long-term career path.
