Prospero Teaching is recruiting for an unqualified Science Teacher to work in a secondary SEMH provision in Wythenshawe. The school caters to young people with social, emotional, and mental health issues. This role is ideal for those seeking to gain experience as a Teacher, particularly if they have prior experience running sessions of PE, life skills, or pastoral activities with young people.
You will be responsible for running lessons for students aged 11-16 years. Classes are small, typically around 6-10 students. All students have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), which you can refer to during teaching. The timetable includes approximately 14 lessons of PE, cover slots, PSHE, and some Science sessions for 11-16-year-olds.
Some students may come from disadvantaged backgrounds or have mental health issues that can lead to challenging behaviors. You should be prepared to manage such behaviors and provide mentoring and pastoral support to the students.
