Job summary

Fair Ways is seeking a Multi-Site Unqualified Cover Supervisor to work across our education sites in Totton, Eastleigh, Fareham and Swanwick. You will plan and deliver lessons, support staff, and safeguard student wellbeing in a SEN environment with trauma-informed approaches.

You will need a minimum Level 3 qualification, experience with SEMH/ASC students, and a good command of English and Maths. A driving licence and car access are required; DBS enhanced disclosure will be provided by Fair

  • Good level of English and Maths knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised lesson planning and differentiation.
  • Support staff to deliver lessons and supervise activities in school and community.
  • Safeguard students’ wellbeing in line with statutory requirements and Fair Ways policies.
  • Understand how early life experiences may affect behaviour and support accordingly.
  • Apply RiiSE trauma-informed approaches to support students in crises.

Where and when do we need you?

To support the exciting expansion of Fair Ways education provision we are looking for a Multi-Site Unqualified Cover Supervisor to work across all our education sites. At Fair Ways we specialise in both, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties and autism (ASC). Our students will have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and as such are better suited to 1:1 or 2:1 learning and will have an individualised curriculum based on their specific needs. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most other mainstream or specialist schools have been unable to meet their needs. As such, they are likely to have been out of education for a long period of time, having exhausted multiple placements.

When delivering lessons or supporting students at our Schools you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

  • Ensuring a high standard of individualised lesson planning, delivery of lessons, marking of work and knowing when and how to differentiate appropriately using approaches which enable students to be taught effectively.
  • Supporting other staff members to deliver lessons and supervise activities both in school and within the community.
  • Understanding the need to safeguard students’ wellbeing in accordance with statutory requirements, including Fair Ways policies and Government legislation.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of, and a willingness to learn, how the young people’s early life experiences and how such experiences may result in, or contribute to, severe behaviour that challenges.
  • Using our industry recognised RiiSE training to deliver trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and, where appropriate, physical intervention to ensure students are supported appropriately during times of crisis.
The working location of this role will be reactive to meet the staffing needs of each school (schools are based in Totton, Eastleigh, Fareham and Swanwick). Locations will be confirmed as far in advance as possible however are subject to change, potentially at short notice. Mileage will be paid for travel undertaken during working hours, outside of the journey to and from work.
Successful candidates will be working a 37.5 per week, term time only. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.
Fair Ways are unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role and all applicants will need to be able to provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
You and your specialisms
Required
  • To hold a minimum Level 3 qualification, ideally within education or social care or have a demonstrable amount of relevant experience.
  • Have experience of working and supporting children in a SEN environment or have a good level of transferable skills.
  • To have a good level of English and Maths knowledge.
