Job Description:

Our client is a global leader in transforming and operating mission-critical IT systems. They are seeking a Unix/Solaris Infrastructure Engineer to join their 24/7 operations team, supporting high-level Solaris/AIX Servers.

The role is based in Erskine or Newcastle, with a salary up to £75,000, including shift allowance, pension, flexi-benefits fund, and a £10,000 bonus following security clearance.

The engineer will provide advanced technical support during out-of-hours operations, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve solutions, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met. Applicants must be eligible for SC-level UK Security Clearance.

We welcome strong Unix or Linux Engineers willing to be trained in Solaris technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service during emergency support hours (24/7).
• Support disaster recovery tests across virtual platforms.
• Address security vulnerabilities identified by compliance teams.
• Perform scheduled change work outside regular hours.
• Support setup, configuration, and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers.
• Contribute to product development and innovation.
• Expand technical expertise across diverse technologies.

About the Role:

• Provide technical support for infrastructure services and respond to issues.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects and documentation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot systems to ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with the team to improve infrastructure effectiveness.
• Follow best practices and standards.

Essential Skills:

• Experience with Unix/Linux/IBM AIX systems.
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Proven infrastructure technology analysis skills.
• Data analysis proficiency.
• Hands-on Solaris experience (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferred).
• Must be a British National.

Location & Benefits:

• Rotating shift pattern (4-on/4-off).
• Based in Erskine or Newcastle.
• Salary: £50,000 - £55,000.
• 35% shift allowance.
