Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim offers a 12-month paid HR internship starting September 2027 at our Winnersh office. You will join a busy HR team and work across onboarding, capability development and data analytics to support employee lifecycle activities.

You will contribute to projects across Centres of Excellence, admin teams and HR business partnering, with a focus on skills-based roles, total rewards and learning initiatives, while gaining hands-on experience in a global pharma environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently studying a degree in Human Resources Management or Business Management and completing a placement year as part of the course.
  • 3 A levels at grade ABB (minimum)
  • The right to work in the UK for the full duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard new hires effectively and develop improvements for onboarding, lead welcome day organisation, support delivery.
  • Support governance of job descriptions and transition to skills-based approach.
  • Support talent development and talent management using data and analytics.
  • Build development programmes on the AI driven BI University platform to boost learning culture.
  • Participate in Openness, Respect & Opportunity initiatives and support intern calendar activities.
  • Assist Total Rewards with initiatives covering job evaluations, benchmarking, salary structures and benefits.
  • Deliver accurate HR reports and maintain dashboards.
  • Assist with employee relations issues and support HRBP team to reduce ER risks.
  • Contribute to business restructures and organisational design as required.
  • Handle a range of general HR admin tasks.

Number of opportunities: 2 Salary: £26,000 (Not flexible) Closing date: 26/10/2026

These are 12-month paid internships starting September 2027. The roles are head office based requiring a minimum of 2 days a week to be worked from our office in Winnersh.

INTRODUCING THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our passionate and busy HR team and get hands on with all aspects of HR. You will provide support in a variety of projects and day-to-day HR activities across the whole employee lifecycle. You will play an active role in all our HR teams including the Centres of Excellence (total rewards, talent development, data and governance), our admin team and our HR business partnering team.

You will help to support the execution of HR programs & processes as well as improve or create new offerings and initiatives in areas such as employee engagement, reward and recognition, learning & development and openness, respect opportunity.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Ensure we onboard new hires effectively, by developing improvements for the onboarding experience, leading on the welcome day organisation and supporting with its delivery
  • Support our continuous improvement approach to the governance of our job descriptions, including the transition to skills-based approach
  • Support in managing our talent development and talent management processes through the use of data and analytics
  • Build new development programmes on our AI driven platform, including the promotion of our on-demand learning platform; the ‘BI University’ to further develop our learning culture
  • Participate in initiatives that underpin our framework of Openness, Respect & Opportunity, including being an active member of our Early Careers Community and supporting and leading with the calendar of activities, including further development of our intern program.
  • Support the Total Rewards team in launching key initiatives across the specialism and developing your expertise across topics such as job evaluations, benchmarking, salary structures and benefit management.
  • Deliver accurate HR reports, e.g. sickness data and maintain/improve dashboards.
  • Assist with employee relations issues and support the HRBP team to drive performance and minimise the risk of ER issues.
  • Play a hands on role with business restructures and organisational design as required.
  • Other people related activities, as assigned including a range of general HR admin.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Currently studying for a degree in Human Resources Management or Business Management and completing a placement year as part of the course.
  • 3 A levels at grade ABB (minimum)
  • The right to work in the UK for the full duration of the internship.
  • The ability to travel independently to the usual place of work and, where required, to other sites.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to use AI prompts effectively, with proven examples of using AI to streamline tasks and get a more positive output.
  • Experience of using Power Automate to drive efficiencies in outputs.
  • Confident leading projects and seeing them through to completion within the required timescales.
