Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a skilled Painter to support Northumbria University across Newcastle and Gateshead. The role involves high-quality painting, decorating and refurbishment works in student accommodation and academic spaces.

You'll bring strong trade skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in a team. The position includes an on-call rota, a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to contribute to a major university estate project.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Painting & Decorating or City & Guilds recognised.
• Significant practical painting & decorating experience in commercial or education environments.
• Experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance works.
• Full UK Driving Licence required

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, reactive and refurbishment painting works.
• Prepare surfaces to high standards including filling, sanding, sealing and priming.
• Apply paints, varnishes, stains and coatings to internal and external surfaces.
• Complete room refresh programmes and support student accommodation projects.
• Undertake minor repairs and touch-ups while protecting furnishings and occupied areas.
• Use CAFM systems to update work records and maintenance activity.
• Collaborate with colleagues and university stakeholders.
• Deliver a customer-focused service with minimal disruption to students and staff.
• Support the wider maintenance team and on-call rota when required
