Job summary

King's College Hospital is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to provide visible operational, clinical and professional leadership for the Chartwell Chemotherapy Day Unit and Haematology Day Unit at PRUH and South Sites. You will ensure safe, evidence-based, patient-centred delivery of SACT and related therapies, while guiding nursing and admin teams to achieve service objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical leadership and act as an expert resource for staff, patients and the multidisciplinary team within the Chemotherapy Day Unit and Haematology Day Unit.
• Ensure the safe delivery of SACT and supportive treatments in accordance with Trust policies, UKONS guidance, network-agreed pathways and relevant national standards.
• Provide visible, compassionate and inclusive leadership to nursing, healthcare support workers and administrative teams across both units.
• Work collaboratively with Practice Development Nurses, Haematology Practice Development teams and clinical educators to ensure staff receive appropriate induction, education, supervision and competency assessment.
• Support delivery and maintenance of UKONS SACT Passport requirements and relevant haematology and AOS competency frameworks.
• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of audit, service evaluation and quality improvement programmes across the Chemotherapy Day Unit and Haematology Day Unit, network recommendations and emerging best practice within SACT and Haematology services.
• Lead, coach and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices, ensuring excellence is recognised and underperformance is addressed.
• The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make to infection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role.
