Job summary

Curtiss-Wright is seeking a Unit Controller for the Christchurch team to lead the financial planning, budgeting, and reporting functions. The role oversees cost accounting, A/R/A/P, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards while guiding strategic financial decisions.

Responsibilities include developing objectives and forecasts, evaluating systems, and ensuring timely reporting of financial statements to location management.

Qualifications

  • Experience in accounting, tax, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Professional certifications in accounting/finance (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Managerial experience in a corporate setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (SOX, CAS, FAR).
  • Provide financial analyses, forecasts and objective recommendations to management.
  • Oversee budgeting process, cash flow projections and reporting of financial results.
  • Coordinate annual and quarterly budgets, and cost and revenue estimates.
  • Manage A/R and A/P flows and support strategic planning and shared services.

Job description

We are looking for a Unit Controller to join our Christchurch team!

In this role, you will manage the financial planning and budgeting function of the organization and prepares financial analyses and forecasts. The position involves supervision over property accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. Coordinates, administers, and controls financial operations for a business unit of approximately $100-125M annual revenue while mitigating financial risk to the Company. Provides tax, insurance and other reports required by governmental regulations. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets financial and budgetary reports. Directs all aspects of accounting operations and the preparation of annual financial forecasts. Oversees the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Your Challenge:

Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory or governmental requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as well as corporate policies and procedures. Must stay attuned to early warnings of financial problems and be able to provide suggestions on decisive action to resolve or address these problems.

Provides advice in developing objectives, strategies and tactics from an accounting and financial perspective. Plays an active role in the evaluation of business systems and develops proposals for upgrades. Measures performance against company goals, reveals obstacles to growth and develops strategies for improvements. Consistently works with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Through assessment of intangible variables, identifies and evaluates fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas.

Ensures accurate and timely reporting of financial statements and analyses results based on actual and forecast revenue/budget and provides reports with observation/recommendations to location management.

Coordinates the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to guide the financial management of the business segment. Interfaces with departments to ensure accuracy of development program costs to date and estimates in support of revenue recognition.

Reviews proposals and appropriation requests, analyze ledger and module transactions, prepare special reports, handle routine and special projects, manage elements of A/R and A/P transactional flow, active participation in strategic planning process, support shared services groups, assist with payroll processing.
