Job description

Applications are invited for a number of Teaching Assistant posts from recent graduates or others suitably qualified in any major branch of engineering with good communication and interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm to be involved in face-to-face teaching. The posts provide valuable experience and preparation for a career in higher education.

The successful candidates will contribute mainly to the development and delivery of the Department's undergraduate programme in experimental engineering. The bulk of their time will be devoted to demonstrating and marking undergraduate laboratory exercises, but they may also be expected to help to develop new teaching material, update associated documents. Candidates will be expected to also assist with the quality control of examination marking.

The successful candidates will be appointed for 5, 10 or 20 hours per week and must normally be available from 9 am to 1 pm on weekdays during the University's teaching terms.

Fixed-term: Appointments will be fixed-term, commencing 8th October 2025 until 7th July 2026, and are non-renewable.

Current PhD students should give their PhD Supervisor as their first referee.
