Overview

We are pleased to be partnering with a reputable and well-established Insurance Group to assist in the recruitment of an Underwriting Team Leader. This position is ideal for someone seeking to join a respected and long-standing business that values hard work and rewards achievement. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the insurance industry—preferably within the Commercial sector—and prior experience managing or supervising a team in a similar environment would be highly beneficial.

The Role

As Underwriting Team Leader within the Commercial division, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of your team, ensuring service excellence and performance delivery. This role requires someone with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a drive to foster a supportive and productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Commercial underwriting team, resolving operational issues as they arise.
  • Ensure full compliance with FCA regulations across all business functions within the Commercial team.
  • Maintain up-to-date Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records.
  • Keep customer records accurate and up-to-date by ensuring data is correctly entered into the system.
  • Participate in departmental projects to enhance processes, improve efficiencies, and support business development.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum of 1 year\'s experience within the insurance sector, ideally within Commercial and Motor Trade products, with a proven ability to generate leads and achieve sales targets.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
The Package
  • Salary: £31,000 - £34,000 (dependent on experience and skillset)
