Job Title:Plus Specialist

Contract Type:Permanent, Part Time, Full Time, Job Share option available

Salary Range:£26.6k - £28.9k DOE

Location:Eastleigh, Bournemouth or Gloucester, Hybrid

Plus Specialist:A new exciting opportunity has arisen for a (Personal Lines) Underwriting Service Technician.

The Personal Lines Underwriting Service Technician will carry out day to day processing and offer excellent customer service to our brokers via their chosen method of communication. The role will be a predominately telephone based with additional daily administration duties. Handling motor and household business in line with the Company’s agreed service standards.

The Personal Lines Underwriting Technician will work as part of a wider team helping to deliver a personalised support service to our brokers and other internal departments. Full training will be provided on one-to-one bases, plus referral support is always available via your Team Leader and Scheme Underwriters. You will have an agreed underwriting authority to enable appropriate action, decision making and/or problem solving to be taken on individual cases.

Main Responsibilities as a Plus Specialist:

  • To service new and existing business within Company policy and guidelines ensuring that required standards of customer service are maintained.
  • Reviewing policy terms and conditions, the imposition of excesses or declinature of business and discussing reasons for change with the Intermediaries.
  • Liaising with accounts department as necessary to resolve queries
  • Dealing with referrals from Claims department on policy wording and cover particularly in resolving disputes on interpretation and or application of policy terms and conditions.
  • Providing advice and technical guidance to Intermediaries on Personal Lines insurance issues
  • Onboarding, general support and occasional call monitoring newer team members

Skills and experience you need as Plus Specialist:

  • Knowledge of Insurance Principles & Practices, and experience of the underwriting processes and an understanding of working practices would be desirable
  • Good communication skills are required to be able to resolve queries and complaints negotiate premiums/nonstandard quotations and develop successful working relationships.
  • Good standard of education required.
  • The jobholder will be sufficiently numerate to be able to calculate premiums and check quotations
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel is desirable
  • Experience in the general insurance industry
  • Experience in managing heavy workload and working to deadlines
