Underwriting Manager - Latent Defects - North Yorkshire/North East
We are working with a reputable Building Warranty company seeking a Latent Defects Underwriting Manager to join their established team in North Yorkshire.
Role Responsibilities
- Implement audit and enforcement systems to ensure financial compliance with FCA standards.
- Manage controls and monitoring related to insurance sales.
- Develop and oversee underwriting processes for Building Warranties and other insurance products.
- Coordinate with the Administration Manager to ensure the quote and application process meets all requirements.
- Work with the Technical Manager to establish financial and technical checks on Developers to monitor clients.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to control and monitor client funds.
- Ensure claims processes are managed in line with FCA regulations, in partnership with the management team.
- Supervise inspection and surveying processes through the Technical Manager.
- Lead and manage the team effectively, fostering a culture of change and continuous improvement.
- Embed a philosophy of embracing change, building a resilient and adaptable workforce.
- Demonstrate transformational leadership, managing change in a structured way while engaging the team.
- Be solutions-focused, self-sufficient, and capable of problem-solving across various areas.
- Adapt leadership style to motivate and gain support from others.
- Introduce innovative practices within the insurance aspects of the business, advising the Board on strategies.
- Share best practices and celebrate successes across the organization.
- Motivate the underwriting team to perform at their best.
- Manage underperformance with HR support, and develop talent for succession planning.
- Make proactive and difficult decisions when necessary.
- Work effectively in a collaborative manner, engaging with key stakeholders to achieve goals.
- Manage conflicts and high-performance dynamics within the team.
- Apply excellent analytical and reasoning skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Hold Corporate Membership of The Chartered Insurance Institute.
- Have a thorough understanding of FCA requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook.
The company offers a competitive salary up to £55,000 depending on experience, along with excellent benefits.
