The Underwriting department supports the Bank by assessing the risk of lending and protecting the Bank against this risk and losses. With strong market knowledge, a diagnostic approach and ability to give dependable decisions, the team takes a common sense approach to manual underwriting.

What you will be doing

The key purpose of this role is to facilitate and progress mortgage applications to Completion, within the assigned mandate level, in line with the Bank’s operating procedures and policies. You will be responsible for reviewing and responding to all post-offer correspondence for long-term lending applications, ensuring timely processing without breaches of our lending policy. Collaborate with the completions team to meet completion dates.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering high-quality service to brokers, solicitors, and customers. Managing the release of completion funds to ensure customer funds reach solicitors on time.
• Proactively liaising with solicitors and Legal & Compliance to protect the Bank’s interests.
• Using personal lending mandates appropriately across all lending streams with sound rationale and quality assurance.
• Communicating with intermediaries about declined cases, handling objections, and providing feedback.
• Providing telephone support to maintain customer service standards.
• Managing escalations and resolving technical queries from team members.

In return for your commitment

We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £25,000 - £27,000 and a benefits package including:
