Job Description:

About Sollers Consulting

Sollers Consulting is more than a consultancy and software integrator. As a company founded in 2000, our mission has been to transform the financial & insurance industries by helping them adapt to new technologies.

The power of collaboration and the limitless potential of Sollers people are at the root of our success. We strive to be the best at what we do, both in the eyes of our team and our customers. We put people at the heart of every project.

Join us and make Sollers be driven by… you!

About Underwriting:

Today’s insurance market is rapidly evolving, with clients and distribution partners expecting highly tailored, swift underwriting decisions. However, many insurers still rely on traditional underwriting processes that can be slow, cumbersome, and prone to errors. At Sollers, our Underwriting Competency addresses these challenges by modernizing and automating underwriting practices – empowering insurers to make more accurate, data-driven decisions, speed up policy issuance, and improve overall efficiency across the insurance value chain.

About the role. You will:

  • Own the Underwriting Competency’s market success: Develop, execute, and monitor strategic initiatives to ensure the adoption and profitability of our underwriting solutions offering.
  • Define core positioning and messaging: Shape how we communicate the value of our underwriting offerings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain a sales pipeline: Identify and pursue new business opportunities – both with existing and prospective clients – to grow our footprint in underwriting solutions.
  • Establish and manage partnerships: Collaborate with external third parties and evaluate potential alliances or licensing opportunities to enhance our underwriting portfolio.
  • Act as a trusted advisor: Provide expert guidance on underwriting related IT projects for financial institutions, ensuring best practices and efficient processes.
  • Serve as a knowledge authority: Offer leadership and insight on underwriting methodologies, tools, and industry trends that shape modern underwriting processes.
  • Participate in agile project teams: Work closely with international clients throughout the development lifecycle, applying agile principles to deliver robust underwriting solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal competences: Join forces with other internal teams (e.g., Process Automation, Data, Cloud) to build synergy and create integrated solutions for our clients.
  • Engage directly with clients: Actively contribute as part of an agile project team, ensuring client satisfaction and solution alignment with business needs.

About the requirements. You need:

  • Proven track record in underwriting or underwriting-related solution sales: Hands-on experience in introducing or selling underwriting platforms or services to large organizations.
  • At least 3 years in Business Development or Sales roles in IT/Insurance: Experience driving sales results, ideally within the insurance industry or related sectors.
  • Experience with underwriting platforms and analytics: Familiarity with software solutions and platforms (e.g., underwriting workbenches, pricing engines, process automation platforms, policy admin systems).
  • Technical understanding of underwriting tools and market trends: Ability to discuss technical aspects with stakeholders and remain current on emerging technologies in underwriting.
  • Strong business case development skills: Capable of translating underwriting improvements into tangible ROI and efficiency gains for clients.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture: Understanding how underwriting solutions integrate within large-scale, distributed systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Able to effectively engage and inspire both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities: Adept at diagnosing issues in underwriting workflows and proposing actionable improvements.
  • Team-oriented mindset: Experience working collaboratively in a Product Team environment, as well as the capacity to work independently.
  • Proactive attitude: Willingness to take initiative, adapt, and operate in a fast-paced, evolving landscape.
  • Fluency in English (C1 or higher): Written and spoken.
  • Leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to manage and guide teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills: Able to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines in an agile environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the European Union.

About the wishes. Nice to haves:

  • Experience building underwriting teams: Proven success in recruiting and mentoring team members to drive underwriting excellence.
  • Familiarity with Cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP): Understanding of modern hosting and deployment environments.
  • Mentorship capabilities: A track record of coaching individuals and fostering professional growth.
  • Deep knowledge of underwriting trends and tools: Awareness of the competitive landscape and emerging technologies in the insurance sector.
  • Expertise in financial services: Familiarity with insurance carriers, bancassurance models, or reinsurance markets.
  • Exposure to RPA and Process Mining: Experience identifying and automating manual underwriting tasks.
  • Consulting or IT background in insurance: Experience in consulting, implementation, or tech projects related to underwriting transformation.
  • Fluency in French or German: Highly valued for engagements with international clients.

About our promises. We can offer:

  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid home office model (2-3 times per week in the office) as work-life balance is crucial at Sollers.
  • A chance to be promoted twice a year and a clearly defined career path with salary forecast.
  • Opportunities for growth with a training budget that you can use for courses and conferences. We also provide access to an online training platform and co-fund language classes.
  • An internal coach to guide you through the onboarding, further training and career opportunities, plus a budget to be used for your lunches together.
  • A chance to #domore for the planet and the community as part of Sollers Change Makers – our volunteering program.
  • Lots of teambuilding activities, trips, hobby groups and cultural events to create a company powered by teamwork.
  • Probably all the benefits you can think of!
