Underwriting Assistant - Transactional Liability

London with hybrid working

We are currently looking for an Underwriting Assistant to support our Financial Lines team based in our London office with hybrid working.

The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and timely administrative and technical support to the Transactional Liability Underwriting team, ensuring exceptional customer service and resolution of enquiries from Brokers/partners. The role involves assisting underwriters with policy administration, underwriting new business and renewals within set guidelines and service standards, and contributing to the achievement of business objectives.

QBE’s European Operations Transactional Liability team has significant Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) experience and works alongside our accomplished North American team to provide a truly global service.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the lifecycle of policies from new business, Mid Term Adjustments (MTAs), and renewals through to their cancellation or lapse, including managing credit control activities and ensuring timely closings are received.
  • Assist with underwriting new business, MTAs, and renewals following Governance Underwriting Standards and Product rules.
  • Develop and maintain system and process knowledge within Distribution.
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance guidelines, policy changes, and modifications.
  • Provide underwriting and claims customer service support to intermediary and direct customers.
  • Comply with all legislation, industry codes, and company policies.
  • Develop good working relationships and ensure timely communication with internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing 'best practice' and process improvements to reduce expenses.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practices.

About you:

  • Previous transferable experience within Transactional Liability, M&A, legal or law, and a desire to pursue a career in insurance
  • A high level of numeracy and literacy
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively and develop successful working relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce detailed reports at various levels
  • Problem solving skills – demonstrates tenacity in handling and resolving queries
