We are currently seeking a full-time Underwriting Assistant in Manchester, reporting to the Head of Underwriting Delivery.

You will provide accurate, timely, and high-quality non-regulated services to various Underwriting Teams, demonstrating care for customers and respect for the company's obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Entering data into the in-house S2000 underwriting system, pricing tools, and other administrative systems.
  • Scanning and photocopying documents as required.
  • Managing and saving documents.
  • Supporting the clearing list and accumulation control processes.
  • Assisting with the Contract Certainty (CC) process, including completing the CC checklist.
  • Managing electronic placing documentation on platforms such as PPL and Whitespace.
  • Reviewing and managing exception reports weekly.
  • Posting daily premium closing messages in S2000.
  • Assisting with credit control and aged debt management.
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and systems.
  • Attending relevant meetings and taking minutes.
  • Supporting new projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Performing other ad-hoc administrative tasks.
  • Promoting good Conduct to deliver optimal outcomes for customers and policyholders.
  • Understanding escalation lines and responsibilities related to Product Conduct Risk Strategy Group (PCRSG), Underwriting & Claims Sub Committee (UCSC), ExCo, and the Board.

Knowledge and Skills

(Prior knowledge is advantageous but not essential)

  • Basic understanding of:
  • Principles of Insurance;
  • Legal Principles;
  • Regulations including PRA/FCA and contract certainty issues;
  • Lloyd’s regulations;
  • Company-specific procedures related to the role;
  • Roles of colleagues and their relation to business structure and plans;
  • Willingness to develop knowledge through continuous learning;
  • Awareness of risks within the role and controls in place to mitigate them, reporting significant changes promptly.
