Job description

Arthur is exclusively partnered with a London Market Insurer who is hiring an Underwriting Assistant.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll support the day-to-day underwriting activities across multiple classes of business, from managing risk information and rating risks to CAT modelling and maintaining underwriting notes. You’ll play an active part in ensuring these tasks are carried out efficiently, accurately, and within the required regulatory parameters.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Underwriters across different classes of business.
  • Setting up references for new and renewal accounts.
  • Preparing risk information folders, rating risks, conducting CAT modelling, and presenting findings to underwriters.
  • Supporting ad-hoc projects involving book-specific data analysis.
  • Staying informed about developments affecting the business class and escalating relevant matters to Senior Underwriters or Underwriting Management.
  • Ensuring all risks are processed appropriately and updating the risk tracker with outcomes.
  • Acting as team data steward, collaborating with other departments.
  • Liaising with actuarial teams regarding pricing.
  • Managing queries professionally and efficiently.
  • Accuracy checking and producing notes as part of underwriting sign-off.
  • Monitoring premium payments and liaising with brokers as needed.
  • Building and maintaining broker relationships to support your role.
