Join to apply for the Underwriting Analyst - Casualty Treaty role at Canopius Group.

This is a great opportunity to join Canopius' fast-growing Casualty Treaty team, supporting underwriting and developing a diverse portfolio of US and International Casualty Treaty business across multiple product lines and territories.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform pricing analysis of risks using Casualty Treaty Pricing Model and/or bespoke models.
  • Ensure accurate reflection of key performance indicators in underwriting management information system.
  • Contribute to policy risk assessments through peer review debates.
  • Support business planning and forecasting.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as brokers and reinsurance brokers.
  • Collaborate with the catastrophe management team to assess portfolio risk.
  • Attend client, broker, and team meetings.
  • Monitor the quality of pricing data produced by models.
  • Research market rates, trends, and key pricing assumptions.
  • Work with the Actuarial team on Casualty Treaty pricing model development and maintenance.
  • Assist underwriters in using pricing tools professionally.
  • Research potential new segments, products, and markets for portfolio development.
  • Summarize research into structured reports with recommendations.
  • Provide monthly portfolio statistics.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in mathematical, scientific, or problem-solving subject; experience as Data Analyst or graduate.
  • Strong problem-solving and quantitative skills, including MS Excel.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Understanding of general insurance; eager to develop further.
  • Experience with statistical modeling techniques.
  • Excel and programming skills with a desire to improve.
  • Organized, with clear documentation and ability to prioritize.
  • Effective communicator with colleagues and external stakeholders.
