Qualifications

Underwriting Analyst

Stafford with hybrid working

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our newly created Digital E-trade Motor Underwriting team as an Underwriting Analyst.

This role will take responsibility for monitoring, reviewing and proposing amendments to commercial motor e-trade products to maximise the underwriting of new and existing business in accordance with our business plans and objectives.

The role will partner closely with our Underwriters and cross departmentally and will focus on providing MI, Data and performance analysis support for decision making and process improvement reviews.

Your new role

  • Work closely with the Underwriting Manager and existing Portfolio Underwriter/Analysts, taking responsibility for product performance against KPI’s and business plan
  • Undertaking segmental analysis to understand the drivers of performance and to highlight areas of opportunity and threat within each product
  • Be familiar with the annual business plan for the portfolio and its context to be able to make appropriate decisions
  • Collaborate effectively with a range of colleagues to obtain data, agree approaches, explain conclusions, make feasible recommendations
  • Work with our e-trade development team to implement agreed solutions
  • Using data manipulation tools to develop new insights into the SME portfolio and share this with the wider business via dashboards or ad-hoc reports
  • Meet with external partners to discuss performance of accounts
  • Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency

About you

  • Demonstrable experience in the general insurance market, with a strong preference for expertise in the motor line of business and/or e-trade environment.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data sets and effectively present insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and quantitative skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages and analytical tools including SQL, Python, R, Power BI, and Visual Basic would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels, both directly and indirectly.
  • Collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, with the ability to integrate diverse business perspectives.
