Avencia are partnered with a leading insurer who are looking to recruit an Underwriter in their Birmingham office.

This position involves underwriting new business via broker submissions and e-trade systems for Financial Lines / Professional Indemnity, with a focus on building and maintaining strong broker relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite new business in line with guidelines and authority levels
• Negotiate terms and promote product benefits to brokers
• Manage workflows through internal platforms
• Support broker development alongside Business Development Managers
• Proactively identify new business opportunities via CRM

Skills & experience

• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Proactive workflow management
• Ability to prioritise based on commercial value
• Underwriting, broking, or financial services experience
• Financial Lines/PI experience is ideal, but other lines considered
• Acturis knowledge beneficial but not essential
