Job description

LendInvest is the UK’s leading FinTech platform for property finance. Over the past 17 years, we have grown from just our two founders to a team of over 200 working to make property finance simple for everyone.

A workplace culture built around trying new things, getting things done, and having fun while we do it has helped us lend more than £7.5 billion of mortgages, put thousands of new or improved homes into the UK housing market, and successfully launch on the London Stock Exchange. We have big plans to continue growing the business, our products, our technology, and our people.

About the Role

As a Residential Underwriter at LendInvest, you'll play a key role in assessing and approving mortgage loan applications from enquiry to completion. Your expertise in credit risk assessment, valuations, and legal due diligence will help shape responsible lending decisions while balancing commercial success and customer outcomes.

This is more than just underwriting—it’s about owning the process, making strategic lending decisions, and ensuring we continue to lead the way in specialist property finance. You’ll be a critical part of a collaborative, fast-paced team, working with brokers, solicitors, valuers, and case managers to deliver exceptional service.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own the underwriting process from start to finish, ensuring an efficient and risk-conscious approach.
  • Assess borrower risk, including income verification, valuations, and legal aspects.
  • Engage with brokers and borrowers, providing clear and prompt decisions.
  • Work closely with solicitors, valuers, and case managers to ensure smooth transactions.
  • Make confident lending decisions, backed by clear rationale and aligned with our policies.
  • Support and mentor case managers, helping develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to efficiency improvements that maintain strong risk management while streamlining processes.
What We’re Looking For
  • A confident and resilient underwriter who can build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement and attention to detail, with the ability to spot risks early.
  • Experience handling high-volume workflows, with strong prioritisation skills.
  • A deep understanding of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), Conduct Risk, and Consumer Duty.
  • Strong technical knowledge of credit referencing, anti-fraud systems, and land registry documents.
  • Substantial residential underwriting experience, ideally within specialist lending.
  • CeMAP qualification (preferred but not essential).

If you’re looking for a dynamic, high-impact role where your expertise will shape the future of property finance, we’d love to hear from you!
