Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Commercial Underwriter within our Existing Business team. What They Will Be Doing

  1. Assess and evaluate risks associated with existing insurance policies to determine appropriate renewal terms and conditions for Charity, Faith, and Recruitment products.
  2. Manage the end-to-end renewal process for existing business, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  3. Communicate effectively with brokers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions for their clients.
  4. Prepare and process documentation for policy amendments and renewals.
  5. Analyse market trends to recommend competitive pricing strategies and coverage options.
  6. Collaborate with the underwriting team, insurers, and MGUs as appropriate to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  7. Ensure all underwriting activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  8. Support the team leader in renewals, assisting with the preparation and distribution of renewal documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in underwriting, ideally with a focus on existing business, MTAs, and renewals within the insurance sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client and broker interaction.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and decision-making.
  • Good understanding of cross-class insurance products and current market trends across Property, Liability, and Executive risks.
  • Previous experience in the Charity, Faith, or Recruitment sectors is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive and customer-focused approach.
  • Relevant educational background (e.g., degree in business, finance, or related field) and professional underwriting qualifications are advantageous.
