Role: Credit Underwriter / Credit Risk Analyst

This hands-on role is perfect for someone who thrives on variety. You’ll make real-time credit decisions while supporting wider portfolio analysis using SQL and Python. Whether you’re an experienced underwriter with a growing interest in analytics or already blending both, this role offers the chance to stretch yourself and make an impact.

To succeed, you should have experience underwriting unsecured personal loans or be comfortable assisting with underwriting. A good understanding of credit risk is essential. You should be comfortable working independently, spotting risks, and making confident decisions that balance risk with growth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and assessing consumer credit applications across a growing portfolio
• Engaging with customers and gathering additional information as needed
• Spotting risk and fraud, making clear, well-reasoned credit decisions
• Supporting analytics projects using SQL and Python (bonus)
• Generating insights on performance and helping shape credit strategy
• Collaborating across teams to improve processes and customer outcomes
• Taking ownership of your work in a fast-paced, fully remote environment

Required experience includes:

• Underwriting in UK consumer lending, especially unsecured loans
• Working with credit risk strategies and understanding affordability models
• Using SQL or Python, or willingness to learn
• Balancing commercial thinking with attention to detail
• Clear communication and decision-making under pressure
• Experience working in a remote team with trust, autonomy, and collaboration
