Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter in our Corporate Property team within our UK Property & Casualty business.

Our Corporate Property team handles large commercial risks across the UK and international markets. Our clients often present challenging and complex risks, including multinational requirements. Sompo has the capabilities to participate as both a lead and follow market, working across our network of brokers to secure long-term partnerships with our target customers. This role is within our International Property segment.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Handling renewal and new business within agreed parameters for large, complex international property accounts as both a lead and follow insurer.
2. Analyzing information for underwriting purposes, including account pricing, engineering overviews, and performance analysis.
3. Attending client presentations and meetings, with travel as required.
4. Ensuring adherence to all financial, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
5. Liaising with insurance and reinsurance brokers, with full client engagement.
6. Performing ad-hoc tasks and projects.

What you’ll bring:

1. Minimum 2 years of property underwriting experience within the London market.
2. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a team-oriented approach.
3. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
4. ACII or an equivalent qualification.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
7. Strong organizational skills.
8. Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Excel.
