We are currently seeking an Underwriter to join our Leeds office on a full-time basis, reporting to the Underwriter & Team Leader.

The role involves maintaining a profitable, balanced, and growing portfolio with allocated intermediaries and customers, contributing to the company's long-term trading objectives.

You will provide technical underwriting expertise and guidance to less experienced staff.

Responsibilities:

• Handle end-to-end processes for your allocated portfolio to meet business development and trading strategies.
• Make effective decisions within your delegated authority to ensure efficient work completion.
• Develop strong relationships with intermediaries, balancing their needs with the company's objectives to foster profitable growth.
• Plan and organize your work to meet customer service and credit control targets.
• Identify and close business opportunities promptly, collaborating with team members as needed.
• Serve as a reference point for intermediaries, customers, and junior staff to ensure high-quality service.
• Maintain a balanced, high-quality portfolio by utilizing gathered information effectively.
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks as required.
• Contribute to good conduct and compliance with policies related to customer outcomes and risk management.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Extensive underwriting knowledge and understanding of technical underwriting and company strategy.
• Ability to interpret management information effectively.
• Knowledge of the local market and internal/external relationships.
