DUAL in London seeks an underwriter to join its expanding warranty and indemnity insurance team. The role suits a corporate solicitor with strong W&I experience or an insurance professional moving into W&I underwriting, working alongside senior underwriters on international risks.
You will draft and negotiate W&I policies, review deal documents, and build relationships with brokers and M&A lawyers while mentoring junior teammates and supporting cross-border TR activities.
Working across 21 countries, DUAL has built a reputation as a specialist underwriting group and the market of choice for insurance intermediaries around the world.
That’s how we have become one of the world’s largest international underwriting agencies (or MGAs) with US$3.4bn GWP.

The W&I team is part of a new global Transactional Risk (TR) team at an established and specialist global managing general agent (MGA). This role would suit a collaborative and commercially minded corporate solicitor looking to join the insurance market as well as those with current W&I experience.
The successful candidate will be given both a great deal of responsibility in managing their own underwrites and exposure to clients, brokers and solicitor partners from day one. In particular, their responsibilities will include: Working alongside senior underwriters to underwrite international W&I risks (including the review and analysis of transaction documents (share purchase agreements, disclosure letters etc) and due diligence reports). Drafting and negotiating W&I policies to ensure the policy and coverage position is appropriate and within the team’s underwriting appetite and guidelines. Building and maintaining positive relationships within the market, in particular with W&I brokers and M&A lawyers, with the view to identifying and winning new opportunities. Supervising junior members of the W&I team in both preparing non-binding indications for new risks and supporting them more generally in their own development. Support the development of the expanding global TR team and encourage cross selling and knowledge sharing across all TR product lines.
A career that you define. Of course, we offer a competitive range of rewards and benefits to support you, but we know you expect all that. What you might not expect is a job where everyone has a voice, where volunteering in the community is part of the day job, and where everyone is encouraged to play a part towards our sustainability goals. We want people who want to make a difference - not just in the workplace, but in the industry and in the wider community.

Permanent Howden began in 1994, as just three people and a dog. Now there are 23,000 of us, and we're a leading global insurance group, managing $37bn of premiums for our clients. Our largest shareholder group is us – the people who work in the business – supported by three long-term, minority growth-equity partners who share our vision to build a business to last, one that will never be sold. The owner's mindset is something that's embedded in our culture; our people readily take ownership of their decisions, their actions, and their outputs. They’re invested in every sense. And we all know that by working together to drive the business forward, everyone will benefit from the extraordinary results we can achieve.
