About the role
Ecclesiastical Insurance, proudly part of Benefact Group, is looking for an Underwriter to join our Birmingham office.
The role involves delivering exceptional customer service as part of the underwriting team, supporting Ecclesiastical’s "right first time" approach to customer service.

Key responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and profitably underwrite new/existing business within your authority, aligned with Ecclesiastical strategy.
- Plan, prioritize, and manage your work to meet objectives and SLAs, ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Use appropriate communication methods (telephone, face-to-face) to support the "right first time" approach and maintain successful relationships.
- Act on audit results and implement action plans within deadlines to improve performance.
- Understand and operate within the regulatory framework, escalating risks as necessary.
- Identify and act upon complaints according to company policy.
- Expand personal technical and niche knowledge through informal networking, internet, industry press, and formal training (In-house, CII, CPD).
Knowledge, skills, and experience
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage work to achieve objectives and targets.
- Accurate management and use of information.
- Proactive with a desire for continuous improvement.
- Industry knowledge is advantageous.
- Certificate CII or commitment to achieve it within an agreed timeframe.
- Proficient IT and data skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication skills.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional service as an individual and team player.
- Understanding of relevant regulations for good customer outcomes.
- Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality importance.
