About The Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance, part of Benefact Group, is seeking an Underwriter for our Birmingham office.

The successful candidate will be part of a new business team, underwriting and trading new enquiries to support the profitable growth of our account.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop, negotiate, and profitably underwrite new business within your authority and in line with Ecclesiastical strategy.
  2. Plan, prioritize, and manage your work to meet objectives and SLAs, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  3. Communicate effectively via telephone and face-to-face to support a right-first-time approach, maintaining successful relationships.
  4. Address audit results and implement action plans to improve performance.
  5. Operate within the regulatory framework and escalate risks as necessary.
  6. Handle complaints in line with company policy.
  7. Expand technical and niche knowledge through informal networking and formal training.
  8. Build a credible reputation in the local insurance market.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  1. Ability to plan and manage work to meet targets.
  2. Strong communication skills.
  3. Accurate information management.
  4. Proactive with a desire for continuous improvement.
  5. Industry knowledge is advantageous.
  6. Certificate in CII or commitment to achieve it.
  7. Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  8. Effective communication and team collaboration skills.
  9. Understanding of relevant regulations and data protection.
