Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Craft Attendant - Underground Jointer's Mate based in Taunton to support the repair, construction and alteration of assets across the Somerset area. The role involves outdoor, physical work and working away from the depot in a small team. A full driving licence is desirable.

Some electrical experience is an advantage, but full training will be provided. You should live within around 30 minutes of the depot to be able to respond quickly and standby out of hours when

Responsibilities

• Ensure before commencing work you understand the task/s that you have been instructed to undertake;
• Promote and demonstrate a culture of Health Safety & Quality at all times
• Preparation of the work site.
• Erect signs and barriers. Excavate, lay cable and backfill. Excavate pole and stay holes. Fix meter boards, meters and cut-outs.
• To provide first aid where required in accordance with training.
• Maintain tools, equipment, materials and vehicles in a safe condition.
• Assist other team members.
• Assess the potential impact of a specific work activity on customers.
• Minimise the adverse impact of own activities on customers.
• Advise customers affected of the impact of own activities.
• Resolve customer complaints, wherever possible directly.
• Assess site risks, and take action to remove or avoid those risks.
• Comply with safety instructions, use protective equipment and wear protective clothing.
• Report all accidents and incidents
