The role You’ll work closely with experienced educators to support children with a range of special educational needs in a structured, nurturing environment. Your day-to-day may involve one-to-one support, adapting learning materials, helping pupils access the curriculum and encouraging their personal and social development. It’s a dynamic role that offers valuable insight into classroom practice and child development.
The ideal person We’re looking for someone currently studying, or recently graduated from, a degree in psychology, education, speech and language therapy, social work, or a related field. You’ll bring empathy, patience and strong communication skills to the role, along with a genuine passion for working with children who need extra support. Teamwork and a proactive attitude are key.
The school The school is a welcoming and inclusive primary setting located in Carlisle, dedicated to supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs. The team is experienced, passionate and committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Hours Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm Full time and part time applications welcomed

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
