Job Purpose

The PMA Post-Award Engineering team contains multi-discipline teams responsible for the delivery of Umbilical products to our customers. The technical disciplines within the department are responsible for the umbilical product design and verification and the associated hardware design and verification.

For assigned projects, engineers analyze the life cycle performance of all umbilical products within project scopes to relevant internal, international, and client-driven standards. This includes working with senior engineers to identify additional risks and engineering assessments outside of standard practices to ensure product suitability. Support is also provided to other non-assigned projects within PMA. The engineer will collaborate closely with disciplines such as Structural, Drawing Office, Project Management, R&D, and Process.

Job Description
  • Review specifications, assess against internal standards, and create umbilical design basis.
  • Analyze the life cycle performance of umbilical products according to relevant standards and rules, creating calculation packages specific to each umbilical type/design, including verification responsibilities.
  • Provide technical support during design reviews, clarification meetings, and risk reviews on projects and during manufacturing, under the guidance of Senior and Lead Engineers.
  • Ensure work completion aligns with guidelines, design rules, and procedures efficiently and timely.
  • Contribute to departmental goals set by Lead Engineers and Department Managers.
  • Identify technical risks and escalate to senior engineers when applicable.
  • Update design rules as needed, ensuring deviations are managed according to change control procedures.
  • Ensure departmental and company QHS&E objectives are met.
  • Support improvement activities and contribute to Lean initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Skills/Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Subsea Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in umbilical engineering and the offshore/subsea industry is beneficial.
  • Experience with engineering tools like MathCAD and Orcaflex.
  • Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD and Inventor is advantageous.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools like Ansys and Abaqus.
  • Experience in developing lean best practices.
  • Ability to deliver against challenging project schedules.
