Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in West Essex is seeking an Ultrasound Assistant to support patients during examinations and assist radiology staff. You will mentor junior RDAs and rotate through obstetric and non-obstetric ultrasound, putting patient needs first.

You will book patients into ultrasound room diaries, train others, and help prepare rooms and equipment, ensuring clean, safe, confidential care while maintaining high professional standards across PAHT sites.

Qualifications

• Provide an effective Radiology service to PAH Trust, within departmental protocols
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, peers, clinicians, and other staff throughout the organisation
• Work as part of a team

Responsibilities

• To support patients during ultrasound examinations, and to assist the other imaging assistants with preparing patients and carrying out these examinations
• To act as a mentor and role model to junior RDAs; being a point of contact for advice and guidance
• To book patients for ultrasound examinations into the relevant ultrasound room diaries and provide training to juniors
• To rotate between obstetric and non-obstetric ultrasound
• To coordinate arrival and departure of patients and assist in equipment preparation and aseptic technique
• To support Sonographers and Radiologists during scanning
