Ultrasound Clinical Trainer
Location: Leicester (regular travel required, expenses covered)
Salary: £48,000 – £52,000 per annum

About the role:
A leading provider of NHS and private healthcare is seeking a dedicated Ultrasound Clinical Trainer to support services across Leicester. This role involves providing training, supervision, and clinical support to Sonographers while ensuring high-quality ultrasound service delivery. Travel expenses will be covered by the employer.
Key responsibilities:
Clinical
- Undertake ultrasound procedures in line with modality-specific clinical guidelines and protocols (aligned with RCR & SOR Standards).
- Conduct examinations based on patient referrals, adhering to organisational policies.
- Provide training and supervision for trainee Sonographers across all areas of scanning and reporting.
- Ensure a safe, effective, caring, and well-led environment responsive to patient and staff requirements.
- Provide second opinions and review reports for second reporting as required.
- Support the Clinical Lead as required.
Operations
- Support the Operational Management Team with queries and provide Sonographer cover when needed.
- Participate in team meetings and ensure effective communication within the service.
- Compile reports as required by management and the Clinical Lead.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information systems.
- Ensure all reports are stored correctly and that scans are reported on the same working day unless a second opinion is required.
Governance
- Investigate and respond to service user complaints and reported incidents.
- Ensure compliance with company Health and Safety policies.
- Follow ultrasound-specific protocols to support service requirements.
- Support the Clinical Lead with protocol reviews, agenda items, and forum actions.
People Management
- Direct and supervise the workload of Sonographers under training and supervision.
- Address and manage conduct and capability issues in line with company policies.
- Support the recruitment, selection, and development of Sonographers.
- Maintain accurate training, professional development, and performance records.
- Promote equal opportunities for staff and ensure adequate development opportunities.
Quality and Audit
- Conduct audit assignments in consultation with the Consultant Radiologist, Clinical Lead, and Head of Service Delivery.
- Ensure that audit results are discussed with Sonographers to promote continued learning and development.
- Provide an effective contribution to the Quality Assurance Framework through internal audit work.
- Ensure compliance with all systems and processes for internal audit.
Requirements:
- CASE-accredited Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Ultrasound (or equivalent).
- Registration with HCPC, SOR, or RCT.
- Experience in clinical audits, compiling results, and presenting outcomes.
- Strong understanding of Data Protection Act, Information Governance, and Caldicott Principles.
- Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC) fundamental standards for healthcare.
- Significant clinical experience as a qualified Sonographer, undertaking a wide range of procedures.
- Ability to train, support, and motivate team members.
- Experience in performing and managing ultrasound clinical audits.
- Full UK driving licence.
