Job description

Let’s talk about your main mission:

  • Manage the UK Technical Claims Team, based within Global Operations UK, in Ipswich.
  • Manage the UK Technical Claims Team on a day-to-day basis, including resources planning, monitoring of KPI’s and the team’s development.
  • Manage a personal allocation of large losses and complex claims, in accordance with AXA LM’s claims strategy and AXA Standards, authorising payments where appropriate in accordance with pre-determined authority level.
  • Manage, where applicable, external MGA’s & TPA’s and organise, and where appropriate undertake, audits of both the MGA’s & TPA’s.
  • To set reserves, process and manage claims and ensure that all relevant procedures are followed, in accordance with the authority level.
  • Prepare reports on claim activity / developments / trends and report in accordance with AXA LM’s internal guidelines and make recommendations for business improvements.
  • Proactively participate in the planning process for UK & CH technical Claims Teams PAP’s drafting & monitoring against targets, KPI’s & objectives.
  • Co-ordinate with both UK & CH claims adjusters and assist team members (UK & CH) with prioritisation of PAP targets / KPI’s in conjunction with Head of Claims Europe.
  • Monitor reports on a monthly basis & produce a summarised report of movements for each portfolio and make recommendation to the Head of Claims Europe to target claims / reinsures for pro-active claim management, dormancy identification & audit targeting.
  • Produce a quarterly actuarial report by portfolio for analysis by Actuaries & Head of Claims Europe.
  • Produce ad-hoc reports as required by senior management.
  • Monitor and demonstrate ICS & control processes on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Manage and demonstrate adherence by the Technical Claims Team of all regulatory requirements for each portfolio and AXA Group standards.
  • Work with the AXA LM Operations team and Business Development team to support commutation / legacy projects.

The UK Technical Claims Manager reports to the Head of Claims Europe.

What you bring:

Technical Experience

  • Experience in handling direct bodily injury claims, emanating from Motor, EL, PL & General Third-Party Liability, including management of solicitors / lawyers and external experts, including medical experts.
  • Proven track record in reaching favourable settlement on direct bodily injury claims.
  • Proven track record of managing MGA’s & TPA’s including management of audit process and conducting audits of both MGA’s & TPA’s.
  • Proven track record of proactive management of claim portfolios.
  • Good knowledge of policy wordings in common use in the reinsurance and insurance market.
  • Ability to handle and /or acquire an understanding of different classes of insurance & reinsurance business
  • Sound knowledge of the UK & European Insurance and Reinsurance Markets and knowledgeable of European & UK regulation & laws.
  • Sound knowledge of legal principles pertaining to reinsurance and insurance.
  • Advanced knowledge of coverage, liability, and complex claims handling procedures.
  • A full working knowledge of claims operations and procedures is required.
  • Delivery KPIs claims management as applicable to run-off business.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Desirable, negotiation and execution of commutations.
