You will join one of the largest REITs globally, with ambitious growth plans for the UK and Europe. From day one, under the guidance of our Head of UK Tax, you will help develop and enhance our UK tax operating platform, providing opportunities for skill development and career progression as the company expands.

Position Overview

The UK Tax Manager oversees UK tax compliance and accounting, supports UK transactions, and collaborates with senior leadership and external advisors to promote tax-efficient growth. The role also involves mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
  • Manage UK tax compliance reporting, including offshore requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with HMRC, external advisors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare/review tax documents and communications for authorities.
  • Track compliance requirements and present to the UK board and senior leaders.
  • Monitor REIT conditions and report quarterly to the Board.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies in compliance processes.
Tax Structuring/Planning
  • Support tax structuring and planning for UK expansion.
  • Coordinate tax due diligence on transactions.
  • Manage post-acquisition tax actions.
  • Oversee transfer pricing processes and documentation.
Other Tasks
  • Prepare and review accounting calculations.
  • Manage multiple workstreams with effective communication.
  • Expand tax knowledge to support business needs.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Implement new tax initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Organisational Relationships
  • Collaborate across tax, treasury, legal, and other departments.
  • Work with third-party advisors for tax advice and compliance.
Candidate Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Tax or accounting qualification (e.g., ACA/CTA) or relevant UK REIT experience.
  • UK tax compliance experience in-house or practice.
  • Strong UK tax technical knowledge, including REIT, VAT, CIS, TP, and due diligence.
  • Ability to apply tax knowledge to business scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain tax concepts.
  • Organizational skills to monitor tax performance.
  • Positive attitude towards process improvement.
  • Experience in training and developing junior staff.
Desirable
  • In-house experience.
  • Real estate, property, or REIT experience.
  • Knowledge of One Source or Alpha Tax systems.
