External Sales Manager - Power Transmission

Are you a dynamic sales leader ready to take the reins of a high-performing team within a global engineering powerhouse?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a certified global leader in motion and control technologies, known for innovation, precision engineering, and high-quality solutions across power transmission and cable carrier systems. What You'll Be Doing:

As the External Sales Manager, you'll lead and inspire a team of 4 Area Sales Managers across the UK and Ireland. You'll have strategic oversight of both power transmission and cable carrier product sales, driving performance, supporting business growth, and maximising profitability.

Your role will blend hands-on team leadership, client relationship management, and strategic planning. You'll build strong relationships with key accounts and distribution partners, while ensuring your team is motivated, focused and meeting their targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the external sales team, setting clear targets and KPIs
  2. Coach and support Area Sales Managers across two technical product segments
  3. Develop and execute sales strategies for different markets and customers
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and partners
  5. Analyse market trends, adapt sales strategies and ensure competitive positioning
  6. Collaborate with internal teams across Europe on product and sales development
  7. Contribute to budget setting and financial forecasting
  8. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer focus

What You'll Need:
  1. Experience managing an external sales team in the Industrial, Engineering or Manufacturing industries.
  2. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  3. Background in technical sales - ideally within power transmission, material handling or industrial automation
  4. Knowledge and experience in supporting customers in Food, Waste, Recycling, Quarrying, Water, Automotive, Energy from Waste.
  5. Strong strategic planning and market development skills
  6. HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar (electrical knowledge beneficial)
  7. Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
  8. Comfortable with digital tools and Microsoft Office suite
