Job description

The Radiation Safety Manager (RSM) is responsible for the development, implementation, and compliance of the UK & Europe Oceaneering radiation safety program, along with governmental radiation requirements.

This is an office-based position located in Aberdeen, with the ability to travel frequently to all operational sites within the UK and Europe.

Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Develop, improve, and implement radiation safety protocols, policies, procedures, and forms compliant with UK/Europe regulations and accreditations.
  2. Ensure compliance with all relevant UK regulations, policies, and guidelines, both internally and externally.
  3. Prepare and submit regulatory reports to government agencies. Obtain and manage necessary licenses, registrations, and permits for radioactive materials.
  4. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance across Oceaneering branches and site-based projects.
  5. Respond to radiation emergencies, providing expertise and guidance.
  6. Lead and participate in post-incident investigations involving radiation, and implement corrective actions (HSEQ).
  7. Manage the development and delivery of radiation safety training programs.
  8. Participate in global radiation safety meetings and forums.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may have direct supervisory responsibilities, including overseeing RPS branches or site-specific contracts. It will involve direct contact with technicians and project teams, including after-hours and weekend work.

Qualifications

Required / Preferred

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in planning, organizing, and managing activities related to radiation safety.
  3. Minimum of five (5) years in radiation safety, focusing on industrial radiography, inspections, and compliance.
  4. Deep knowledge of UK radiation safety regulations and best practices.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Proficiency with radiation detection and monitoring equipment.
  7. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
