Job summary

Sona is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its UK payroll bureau, handling end-to-end UK payroll for a portfolio of clients with multiple pay frequencies. You’ll manage queries via our support desk, perform statutory and auto-enrolment tasks, and ensure accurate HMRC filings and reconciliations.

This role offers a fast-paced environment at a growing payroll team, with room to shape processes and an apprenticeship levy for CIPP studies after probation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience processing multiple UK payrolls independently.
• Experience within a bureau or outsourced payroll environment is a bonus.
• Good working knowledge of UK payroll and tax compliance, including tax calculations and filing and payment requirements.
• Confident managing a busy queue of support tickets with clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end UK payroll processing for a portfolio across multiple pay frequencies.
• Manage payroll queries through the support desk with fast, proactive updates.
• Process statutory payments, auto-enrolment, HMRC filings and payroll journal reconciliations.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
